Sunbathing is a fun activity enjoyed by many on a hot summer day.
But for one woman, it turned out to be a disaster.
The unidentified elderly lady decided to sit in a canvas chair in her garden while enjoying the hot weather. However, the canvas eventually tore and the female’s backside got stuck in the seat frame.
She was unable to maneuver out of the chair and she also couldn’t reach a phone to call for help. The lady spent nearly the whole day lodged in the chair at the complete mercy of the sun’s harsh rays.
Thankfully, a neighbor came by to water plants later in the evening and called for emergency help. Firefighters were able to successfully free the woman, who was reported to be in her 80s.
She was taken to the hospital for an examination, as her leg had been injured. She was also sunburnt and dehydrated.
A fire authority stated "We don't get a lot of these type of incidents but people who haven't used their deck chairs for a while should be careful and check them before use, especially the elderly.”
