Jeff Tetzloff has been to a lot of places in his 34 years as a truck driver, 27 of those with the Crete Carrier Corporation. He’s earned awards for more than 3.5 million safe miles. But he never expected that his trucking career would take him to the White House. Tetzloff joined Crete Carrier Chairman and CEO Tonn Ostergard and his wife Holly on a whirlwind trip to Washington, D.C. on April, 12, 2018. The occasion was an event at the White House Rose Garden highlighting benefits of tax cuts for American workers and businesses. Well, we'll start from the beginning. It was all great, but the high points I'll have to say is meeting Vice President Pence. Taking a picture with him. All possible by Tonn Ostergard. Afterward, we went to Congressman Pete Session's office, and they talked a little politics, and I stood off to the side and listened. I kind of noticed a Texas Tech blanket on his couch and I said "Oh, I'm from Indiana. I'll see if he is a Bobby Knight fan. When I get my chance." Of course, Tonn made sure of that. After we got done talking with a little bit of politics. They took pictures of course. It was my turn to take a picture so I thought I'd get this in there and I had to say, "Congressman Session, are you a Bobby Knight fan because I think you're a Texas Tech fan." He said, "Of course I am." Holly (Ostergard) was taking pictures with my phone and I've got Indiana on the back of my phone, and he took a couple of pictures and he said "Stop! Stop! Stop! I'll be right back." So he goes in his office in his closet and he's digging around and I hear him, and I say "Oh my goodness is he going to get a Bobby Knight picture out?" and of course he did. We took pictures with Bobby Knight. Those are the high points because Pence, Vice President Pence is from Indiana and Session is from Indiana, and I felt so comfortable with them guys. It was an unbelievable experience. The flight there, the flight back, eating out, hanging with the ATA people, it was a great time, and I enjoyed it. It was in the Rose Garden. Beautiful day. Cherry blossoms blooming. Fifth row from the front. Snipers on the roof. Kind of helicopters off to the side. High security as you might imagine. Getting to see Trump coming out of the Oval Office, everybody gave a standing ovation. It was half an hour, didn't last long. And right after that he shook the people on the stage, and made sure they got to speak. It wasn't about him. After that, Tonn's in his comfort zone there, so he right away got over there by Pence and, "get over here, Jeff! Get over here! We've got to get a picture." That's how I got my picture, and I was overwhelmed. They said take a lot of pictures. The ATA people, we hung out at their office before we went over there (to the White House) said, "Jeff, this is not going to happen probably again, so make sure you take pictures and enjoy yourself. Take a lot of pictures." So Holly and Tonn they took a lot of pictures, and I'm thankful. Exciting, I mean what else can you say. I thank everybody. Everybody at Crete Carrier.
