Timelapse of a Stormy Sunset

Timelapse of a Stormy Sunset over the Story Bridge in Brisbane, AU last Saturday. It started out as a normal shoot but in the middle of the timelapse it started to storm totally out of the blue. I suppose this is not so unusual for the sub-tropics but it caught me totally unprepared. My camera was pointing South while a localised storm was happening in the West. Unfortunately, I did not catch any lightning that was happening all over the sky to my left. I did not have an umbrella and I had to try and cover the camera and the lense with a towel that my camera was wrapped in from the rain. The towel got into the top area of quite a few the frames. I tried to rescue the photage by changing the aspect ratio to 16:9 and was forced to cut out and copy a few of the adjacent frames. You can see a slight stutter when the rain started really coming down. You can see the effect on the water as the reflection under the bridge is quite calm but the area surrounding has almost a long exposure quality to it. The colour range that the sky goes through is amazing and I was really lucky to capture this. I have been doing quite a few Sunsets lately because I wanted to catch the colours and got lucky this time around. Except for the technical challenges, I am very happy with the final result. The sequence was shot on Canon 6d with the Tokina 16-28mm lense at 16mm. Exposure controlled by the Timelapse+ View with 3 second day and 20 second night variable exposure interval.
